CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – An 18-year-old
Clarksville man was bound to a grand jury yesterday on charges that he
undertook a home invasion robbery that left another youth dead.
Matthew Scott Purviance is accused of entering the Southside residence
of lawyer Ed Robertson and his brother, Mac Robertson, around 5 a.m.
Dec. 21.
Another youth, Chris Lunsford, 17, was also involved in the early
morning knife assault but was shot and killed at the scene by Mac
Robertson, investigators said.
General Sessions Judge John Jack Hestle bound Purviance to a grand jury
on charges of theft of property worth more than $1,000 and especially
aggravated burglary.
He remained jailed yesterday in lieu of $600,000 bond.
The theft charge is in connection with a 1993 Chevrolet Corsica that was
stolen from a Central Avenue address the night before.
