An unidentified man who forced his way into a northeast Houston home
with other home invaders early today was shot to death by one of the
people living there, police said.

The shooting, reported to police at 12:01 a.m., happened during a home
invasion and robbery in the 3700 block of Lucille near the Eastex
Freeway.

The intruder who died had been holding members of the household at
gunpoint when a resident grabbed a shotgun and killed him, police said.
The intruder’s two accomplices escaped after the homeowner fired several
shots at them as well, investigators said.

The case will be referred to a Harris County grand jury without charges,
officials said.

The shooting death was the 242nd homicide to occur in the city of
Houston this year.
