Gun owners won a decisive victory in Prince George county tonight.
The Board of Supervisors voted 4 to 1 to strike an ordinance that
banned discharge of firearms in subdivisions. State law will now
rule on the matter.

Under state law as long as you are not shooting in a manner that is
reckless or endangers others, you can shoot on your property, even if
you are in a subdivision.

Remember that just a little over a month ago the County was going to
ban shooting on any property that wasn’t at least 5 acres.
Grassroots pressure from VCDL got the Board to drop that plan and
instead completely drop all county bans on shooting!

Grassroots works and Prince George is proof of it.

Board member, and Prince George resident, Dennis O’Connor spoke
first. I followed, thanking the Board for wanting to expand freedom
in their county. Two other individuals spoke in favor of repealing
the ordinance – one of whom had a petition with about 40 signatures.

One anti-gunner spoke against the idea. He self-imploded by
insulting the Board, running WAY past the TWO timed warnings he got,
and then storming out of the room even before a vote was taken!

The Chairman, Joseph Leming, just before voting to strike the
ordinance, made an excellent statement about the Second Amendment,
saying that the Founding Fathers could not have possibly imagined
having an uninfringed right to bear arms, but be banned from shooting
those arms!

Board member Henry Parker made the motion to strike the ordinance and
it was seconded by Board member Jerry Skalsky. Board member Robert
Forehand also supported the repeal.

Board member William Robertson voted against the repeal and said he
would try to get a new ordinance in the future to restrict shooting
in certain residential areas. If he does so, VCDL will be there to
fight any such attempt.

VCDL thanks Prince George Board of Supervisors members Leming,
Parker, Skalsky, and Forehand for their vote in this matter.

Congratulations, Prince George!
