When the time comes to defend my family, my home, or my country, I plan to
be prepared to do so. Is there anyone else who will take responsibility for
my protection? I certainly wouldn’t want my safety in the hands of anyone
but myself.

If I will not defend myself, who will?

Warren v. District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department: “[C]ourts
have without exception concluded that when a municipality or other
governmental entity undertakes to furnish police services, it assumes a
duty only to the public at large and not to individual members of the
community.”

The government is not responsible for my safety. I shouldn’t expect the
neighbors to provide for my protection. Only I am responsible.

The best way to insure my family’s safety is to act in a prudent manner and
obtain the most effective tool of self-defense: a GUN. Not a gun that is
locked away in a bedside drawer, but one that is ready for immediate action
by a proficient user.

Those who believe that an individual should be restricted in their attempts
to own the means to their safety and freedom are asking the individual to
forfeit the responsibility of his or her rights to others. To others, to
whom their rights are not as highly valued. That is quite a demand and one
that should be refused.

It is reasonable to point out that there are many individuals who refuse to
accept the responsibility for the defense of themselves, their family, or
their country. They may falsely rely on an inept gang of politicians, or
less-interested, yet perhaps, better prepared, neighbors. These freeloaders
of freedom should be ashamed.

We are constantly reminded that we are the “me” generation or that “people
only think about themselves these days.” I wish it were true that current
generations were taking such great initiative in their personal interest.
Instead, it seems that personal interest and destiny are continually left
to the shaping of myrmidonic groups and governments.

Citizen ownership of firearms is imperative to the personal safety and the
public peace that we treasure.
