Women On Target 2004 Hunt Schedule

NRA Sets Women?s Hunting Excursion Schedule

For 2004, Early 2005

Fairfax, VA-NRA?s Women On Target? program continues to increase sporting opportunities for women, and it may be no coincidence that women have become the fastest-growing segment of the hunting community. The NRA program had barely announced its ladies-only hunting schedule for 2004 and early 2005 before several of the events sold out. But there is still time to register for the others.

With a diverse slate of 11 hunts offered in game-rich locations throughout the country, Women On Target? offers women of all experience levels an ideal chance for a successful hunting excursion in the company of other women who love the outdoors. Giving women a good hunting experience and the chance to meet other women who love the outdoors are equal goals of the program.

?Women On Target? hunts offer challenges for experienced hunters and provide a thrilling introduction to the sport for new hunters,? said Stephanie L.G. Henson, manager of NRA?s Women?s Programs Department. ?New and experienced hunters alike can count on friendly and knowledgeable outfitters and guides, as well as the support and camaraderie of other women who enjoy the hunting and shooting tradition,? she added.

Most of the hunting excursions have been scheduled with outfitters who have hosted Women On Target? hunts before and demonstrated their commitment to meeting NRA?s high standards for the program. Plentiful game, experienced guides, exceptional food, and comfortable accommodations characterize a typical Women On Target? hunting excursion.

Shirley McVicker of Alexandria, Virginia, has participated in five Women On Target? hunts and highly recommends the experience. ?Without question, I encourage any woman, regardless of her hunting experience, to attend one of these events. The guides make you feel so comfortable and are so very helpful. These hunts are great for building confidence and having a fabulous time.?

Registration forms and additional details about the 2004 and early 2005 hunts may be obtained by calling (800) 861-1166 or visiting www.nrahq.org/women/wot.asp <http://www.nrahq.org/women/wot.asp>;. Women On Target? was developed in response to numerous calls from women seeking an introduction to hunting and shooting, preferably in the company of other women. In addition to ladies-only hunting excursions, Women On Target? will sponsor over 150 instructional shooting clinics across the country in 2004.
